Open Question: What kind of car should I get?

I am graduating from college in May, and my parents have offered me two options for a graduation gift--a trip to the Carribbean or a car. As much as I'd adore to receive away, I hate my current clunker and know that I'd receive long-term satisfaction out of a new one. Of course, they wouldn't be buying me a brand new vehicle, but something a few years old and in great condition would be like new to me! Can anyone give me some good suggestions of cars that are good on gas, comfortable and reliable? I'd like something that's nice of fun and sporty, but overall, I'm more concerned about reliability. What do you suggest?? Price range--below $8000.

I have a gas stove which has been converted for LP with black iron installed inside the home for it and copper on the outside (1/2"). I will eventually have a gas dryer and a hookup for my BBQ grill attached to this system also. I do not want to go through the propane companies and am curious if a 100lb tank will be enough for this job. Will it produce enough BTUs for each?

I'm asking because my room mate is going out of town for a month and she's asked me to reduce her bill because she won't be using any energy while she's gone. Open Question: What should I do...friend's wedding ?

I have a pal who is getting married, a very distant pal, whom I barely talk to. She is one of those people who unfortunately doesn't do a good job at keeping in touch. she is having a shower, bachelorette party, and her wedding is in another town so I would need a hotel. I estimate to be spending around around 400 dollars if I were to attend everything. Gas, food, drinks, gifts, splitting hotel for bachelorette party and wedding, then limo. I'm not in the wedding. My initial reaction is that this is a lot of money to spend for someone I talk to about once a year. If I had the money to blow, I would spend it no trouble. Am I being insensitive? Yes, I can just attend the wedding, which I think I will do, and maybe attend one of two nights for the bachelorette party.

Open Question: Discriminated Against - Can't Get a Job?

To make a long story short - my mom is holding off my college fund so I have to pay out of my possess pocket for the 2nd year of school. I'm not allowed taking money out of my fund until I pick up my marks - I understand where she's coming from because she doesn't want me wasting my fund .. and I was slacking, I admit that. Here's the issue : Even before every of this I have been seriously looking for a job, going out at least once a week to every 2 weeks handing out resumes, meeting with managers, etc. I receive the same thing EVERY time "Oh, daddy won't hire you ?" because almost everyone around where I live knows my dad from his business. I don't blame my dad for being successful, but I hate how every one thinks we're super wealthy when really, we're having huge financial troubles and he can't afford to hire anyone else, not to mention he left the main company he was dealing with, because they were bought out by someone else and tried to change him into a corporate store (way less money in that for him) so we're trying to start up privately, and that's really difficult. But like I said, people think we're super wealthy / I want to work for dad, etc. They don't receive that I want to be independent and have my possess job (although dad wants me to eventually be a manager at the store) and it's so degrading for a potential employer to say "What, don't wanna work for daddy?" or "Daddy clip you off?" - What business is that of theirs ? I even had potential employers say to other employees when I left "Fat chance I'll hire her - she's a (lastname). A wealthy b*tch who will just walk out when she's bored" my pal who worked at a gas station I applied at told me the manager said that. I don't know what to do ? I receive the same thing EVERYWHERE and I've applied at clothing stores, restaurants, quick food, any place that may need a receptionist, call centers, daycares, coffee shops, bookstores, you name it. And I receive the same treatment. I can, but almost everything closes down next month since the second semester ends mid-april. And it isn't only myself, but my cousins receive this too because their dad owns a chain of furniture stores. None of us go possess with a "Do you know who I am" attitude. I just feel like not even putting my last name on my resume, but I know that wouldn't be very professional.

Open Question: Can employers refuse an application because of where you live?

After successfully completing an online application for British Gas in Manchester a further telephone interview was arranged. However, at the outset of the call they confirmed my address before stating they couldn't consider my application because I didn't live within one hours steer of their Old Trafford office. Is this discrimination on the basis of location? They suggested contacting them again when I have proof of residence in Manchester. I currently live in Cumbria and stated that I was more than glad to relocate (I am looking to return to Manchester where I previously lived and worked). Can they do this? Can they really refuse to employ someone because of where they live? It's not a question of travelling, lateness etc. If I got the job - I'd move to Manchester. Itjust feels a bit chicken and egg.

Open Question: should teenagers be punished for engaging in sexual activity?

As a fellow teenager myself who just so happens to be observing every of this wanton from the sidelines, I can only start to wonder if teenagers should be punished more harshly for engaging in the crude, vulgar and barbaric act known as "sex" which happens to also be in association with the brutality of drugs, alcohol, and wreckless amounts of this thing called"partying". Whether the punishment is 1 year and 21 months of jail time, harvesting corn and berries by hand in 100 degree weather for 12 hours, begging for tips by working in a gas station bathroom, or even just mopping the floors at the local elementary school, it is definitely clear that we should not just stand idly by and watch this lost and wayward teenage generation wallop in their possess mistakes and misfortunes due to the harsh and severe consequences of the brutality of engaging in sexual activity when they can be doing so many more productive and contributory things for society. So, should teenagers be punished for engaging in sexual activity?

Open Question: FLATULENCE: The REAL cause of World Crisis?

FLATULENCE: Flatulence is the expulsion through the rectum of a mixture of gases that are byproducts of the digestion process of mammals and other animals. The mixture of gases is known as flatus, (informally) fart, or simply gas, and is expelled from the rectum in a process colloquially referred to as "passing gas" or "farting". Flatus is brought to the rectum by the same peristaltic process which causes feces to descend from the big intestine. The noises commonly associated with flatulence are caused by the vibration of the anal sphincter, and occasionally by the closed buttocks. Everyone has it. Most people think they have too much of it. And passing gas in the wrong place at the wrong time can cause great embarrassment. Flatulence is the state of having excessive stomach or intestinal gas. This can result in uncomfortable feelings of bloating, as well as increased belching (burping) or passing of gas from the rectum. Most people produce about 1-3 pints a day and pass gas about 14 times a day. Flatulence itself, although not life threatening, can definitely cause social embarrassment. This embarrassment is often the reason why you might seek medical help for excessive gas. •History has numerous anecdotal accounts of flatulence, including Hippocrates himself professing, "Passing gas is necessary to well-being." The Roman Emperor Claudius equally decreed that "every Roman citizens shall be allowed to pass gas whenever necessary." Unfortunately for flatulent Romans, however, Emperor Constantine later reversed this decision in a 315 BC edict. •In the mid-1800s flatulence took middle stage with the French entertainer Joseph Pugol ("Le Petomane"). Pugol was able to pass gas at will and at varying pitch, thereby playing tunes for sold-out shows at the Moulin Rouge. Such was his success that lesser competitors began to appear, including the Spaniard "El Rey" and the female Angele Thiebeau (later revealed as a fake using hidden air bellows). •More recently, flatulence was immortalized by Mel Brooks in the movie Blazing Saddles with his bean-eating cowboys. •Nonetheless, if you are concerned about excess gas, it is not a laughing matter. It is a medical concern that you will want to talk about with your health care provider. •The primary components of gas (known as flatus, pronounced FLAY-tuss) are 5 odorless gases: nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, and oxygen. •The characteristic odor is attributed to trace gases such as skatole, indole, and sulfur-containing compounds. •The flammable character of flatus is caused by hydrogen and methane. The proportions of these gases depend largely on the bacteria that live in the human colon that digest, or ferment, food that has not been absorbed by the gastrointestinal (GI) tract before reaching the colon. •An estimated 30-150 grams of this undigested food reach the colon in the form of carbohydrate every day. But this amount can vary with diet and how well your GI tract is functioning. The unpleasant odor often associated with flatus is generally attributed to trace sulfur-containing compounds, produced only by particular bacteria not found in everyone.

Open Question: High fiber diet and gas. How can I eat healthy with out ending up in the hospital?

I been on a high fiber diet for 4 months. I been noticing there has been a big change when I go to the bathroom. Very loose stool. Yesterday afternoon I went potty and I was in A LOT of pain. After about 2 hours of holding my stomach and trying to relieve my pressure and cramping I called 911. It was so bad that I could not walk or stand. They put me on morphine and it barley took the edge off. Pain lasted 8 hours and waking up today still have some cramps. I asked them what I can do to prevent this from happening again. They told me "eat less healthy." I was baffled by that statement. I know there are products that help with gas like gas-x and bean-o. I don't want to become an over the counter drug junkie. This diet up to this point has helped me a great deal to lose wight and increased my energy. What can I do? I think I been over doing it with lentil beans. I been making lots of bean soups and eating that for lunch. I also eat egg white sandwich on whole wheat bread. I put some onions and peppers on it. Also been eating trail mix with almonds, seeds and raisins. Lot's of salads brown rice lemon and garlic.

Open Question: Should the San Jose Sharks have considered trading Joe Thornton and Evgeni Nabokov?

It is no coincidence that Thornton and Nabby have had their struggles in the playoffs. First of every, the playoffs are quick-paced, and Joe Thornton is not used to that nice of style. Second of every, Nabokov plays better when he plays more, so he will just run out of gas when the playoffs arrive. The Sharks probably could have traded those two for a forward, a defenseman, and a goalie who can help a winning team in the playoffs much better. Unfortunately, they looked around and could not find a trade that would make the team better. I think trading Thornton and Nabokov to make another team better would have made the Sharks better as well, maybe not in the regular season, but definitely in the playoffs. So, since Joe Thornton is not gone, should he play on the second line in the playoffs? Should Thomas Greiss play as the Sharks' goalie for almost every of the games in March to keep energy for Nabokov, who will then play the April games and find his groove there in the regular season?

Open Question: What the flippin' heck is wrong with my '87 Nissan Stanza?

I adore my stanza! Sadly, it is not starting and I don't know why. :( every the mechanics I know only work on American made cars so they don't want to touch it because its every "metric" and stuff. Jerks. Anyhoos, here's what's going on: *Starting this winter, we've been having to step on the gas as we start it...otherwise it will start and then die. This might have something to do with what's wrong maybe? *If the engine is icy, if we put it in reverse to back up and then put it in steer, it will die. This has also been going on since winter. *Currently it will not start. It has not started for 2 days. It makes noise so I don't think its the battery, the engine just won't turn over. The place I bought it from said they replaced the starter. Anyone know what could be wrong? We take very good care of it. The oil has been changed recently, there's gas in it, whenever we go places for oil changes etc they always comment on how great and clean the engine looks...I don't want to just give up on it. I adore my car. :( The person who gives me the best advise gets best answer!

Open Question: TRUE or FALSE: It is CRUCIAL to learn about the mysteries and wonders of FLATULENCE?
